It’s alright, the hard parts are over. This step is actually relatively simple. So simple in fact, all you have to do is type the domain name you registered into the browser to verify that everything is working correctly. Take a minute and try that now.
There are only two things that could possibly occur here. One, either an empty directory, blank page, or HostGator page appears or two, you’ll see a 404 error, which means a page cannot be displayed. If you get either of the first three, you’re in good shape and everything went according to plan. If you get the 404 error, the domain name has yet to be activated. Take a breath because this is normal as it can take up to 24 hours for the domain to activate. If after 24 hours you still receive the 404 error, it’s time to contact either HostGator or GoDaddy and find the problem.
You can still setup WordPress and start blogging even if your domain name hasn’t been activated. This is the next step.
